Shoham


Shoham, שֹׁהַם‎‎, lit. onyx) is a town (local council) in the Center District of Israel.
According to the Israel Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Shoham's population in the end of 2007 was 19,400. Its jurisdiction is 5,889 dunams (~5.9 km²).
Shoham's current Head of Council is Gil Livneh. Shoham is one of Israel's most developed municipalities, with a high standard of living. Shoham has various elementary schools, and a central high school. Many parks and areas of recreation enhance the overall look of the municipality.
The Shoham school system is rated very highly. In the 2009-2010 school year, Shoham was top in the country in percentage of high school students passing their matriculation exams.
